Nio expands its network of battery swap stations on Chinese highways
Nio has expanded its battery-swapping network in China, which now encompasses nine east-west highways, seven north-south highways, and 12 urban areas. This development supports the company's ambitious goal of establishing battery swap stations in 2,300 counties by 2025.
After launching an upgraded battery-swapping station last June, Nio recently added seven new stations, four of which are situated on key highways. This expansion successfully completes coverage for the G80 Guangzhou-Kunming highway and parts of the Hangzhou-Ruili highway in Zhejiang and Hunan.
Currently, Nio operates 871 battery swap stations along highways, with 293 of these constructed this year. The total number of battery-swapping stations in China stands at 2,609.
Although Nio anticipates a delay of one to two months in reaching its target of 1,000 new battery swap stations, the company remains committed to expanding its network. Nio aims to have a network covering 2,300 counties across 27 provincial regions by December 31, 2025. To further its efforts, Nio has introduced 71 additional Onvo battery swap stations, which includes 18 new fourth-generation units and renovations to 53 third-generation stations.
