Siemens delivers depot management service to Unibuss
Siemens Smart Infrastructure has partnered with Unibuss, a major bus operator in Oslo, to supply the Depot360 managed services solution. This service will aid Unibuss in enhancing the efficiency of its fleet and charging infrastructure.
Launched in April 2024, Depot360 is a comprehensive, integrated service that operates independently of specific charging hardware and is aimed at optimizing logistics vehicles, municipal transit, and private bus fleets across depots and terminals. The Depot360 portfolio includes Depot360 CaaS (Charging as a Service) and Depot360 Managed Services. Unibuss, managing 259 electric buses on 51 routes, has selected Depot360 Managed Services to fine-tune its existing charging infrastructure. The solution is particularly well-suited to Norway's winter conditions and offers continuous monitoring of the charging process. Siemens notes that Depot360’s smart charging features ensure energy delivery remains within grid capacity limits while enabling remote monitoring for more stable operations and reduced energy usage.
This partnership marks Siemens’ first Depot360 contract in Norway, with a focus on establishing a strong regional presence. Through Siemens’ Network Operations Centre (NOC), experts will use fleet-focused algorithms and the Depot360 AI platform to monitor and manage charging infrastructure around the clock, identifying and addressing issues proactively to avoid delays. Additionally, Unibuss can reduce energy costs through load shifting and peak load management.
Henrik Anderberg, Technical Director at Unibuss, emphasized the importance of electric fleet transitions for meeting Norway’s climate objectives, stating, “Implementing advanced technology like Depot360 Managed Services allows us to optimize charging, lower energy expenses, and improve route efficiency, supporting our sustainability and carbon reduction goals in public transport.”
