Terra Charge Launches Electric Vehicle Charging Hub in India
Terra Charge, a Japanese provider of electric vehicle charging solutions, has inaugurated its first public EV charging hub in Ghaziabad, located in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. This new facility is equipped with 71 chargers.
Positioned on the Delhi-Meerut Highway, the charging station serves Ghaziabad, which is part of the National Capital Region (NCR), encompassing Delhi and adjacent districts. The hub is designed to accommodate 72 EVs charging simultaneously, primarily catering to electric two- and three-wheelers. Of the chargers, 70 provide alternating current (AC) at a lower output of 3.3 kW, while one unit is a 60 kW DC charger intended for electric cars with a CCS2 charging port.
Terra Charge has invested approximately 50 million rupees (around 545,000 euros) into this new hub. Akihito Ueda, CEO of Terra Charge India, remarked on the launch, stating, "Our new hub in Ghaziabad is among the largest public EV charging stations in India. We designed it to be accessible to both public and commercial fleets, addressing the region's charging needs and promoting widespread adoption."
With this facility, Terra Charge now operates 50 charging stations across India, boasting over 400 charging points. The company is actively seeking partnerships to enhance its presence in the Indian market.
In September, Terra Charge collaborated with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to establish EV charging stations at major airports nationwide. The first station was opened at Raja Bhoj International Airport (BHO) in Bhopal, situated in central India’s Madhya Pradesh. In addition to its operations in India, Terra Charge also has a presence in its home country of Japan, as well as in ASEAN markets like Thailand and Indonesia.
