Off-board charger (EVSE- Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment)
The Off-board charger is install outside of the electric vehicle, it also convert the input AC current to The DC current. The off board charger include the AC charger and DC charger.
On-Board Charger (OBC)
The On-board Charger is fixed on electric vehicles, it converts single-phase AC (220V) or industrial three-phase AC (380V) into usable DC voltage for electric car power batteries, providing safe and automatic charging capabilities for electric vehicle power batteries.
!!! Electric Vehicles that Support AC Charging Have An OBC Charger Interior
AC charger: Use the AC input and the Output also AC current.
When a AC charger connectors plugs into the charge port it provides alternating current, also known as AC power, to your car. Batteries store energy as direct current, also known as DC energy.
The On board charger, which is built in your car, handles this by converting the AC power into DC energy so that it can be stored in the battery.
For example, in above picture there is an AC charger for electric vehicle. And obviously, there is a on board charger inside the car. The off-board electric AC charger transport the AC power to the On board Charger, then the on board charger convert the AC power to DC power and feed the electric vehicle’s battery.

How DC EV Charger Convert AC Input to DC Output o Charge a Car?
DC EV charger: use the AC input and the output is DC current.
The DC charger can convert the input AC current to the DC current by itself, then charging the battery directly, because there are AC to DC rectifier inside the DC charger cabinet.
For example, in above picture there is a DC charger for electric vehicle. And we can see, the power pass-by the on board charger, the DC charger delivery the power to electric vehicle directly.
